I’ve been getting notifications that people are subscribing to Diary of a Domestic Goddess, but as I mentioned in my previous post, I’m no longer using this blog. Not using it at all. There won’t be any more posts here, so there’s no point in subscribing.

Instead, why not pop along to my NEW blog, where I AM posting. Pretty much daily. Honestly, it’s a great blog, you should go visit it. And maybe subscribe to THAT one instead. You can find it here:

What is Foto Friday?
It’s a weekly meme hosted by me.
How do I take part?
Easy – you post a picture and tell everyone the following:
* What / who is in this photo?
* When / where was this photo taken?
* Why you love this photo.
Then you just leave a comment here linking back to your blog entry. Simple!

What / who is in this photo?
Dale (my hubby) and me. You can also see the top of a couple of heads – my Grom (left) and my cousin Roy (right), and my sister, Leni’s hand  (right) throwing confetti. We’re seen through the crowd…

When / where was this photo taken?
Our wedding day (1st August 2003), arriving back at The Palm Court Hotel after having our photos taken at the Cruickshank Botanical Gardens.

Why you love this photo.
I don’t usually like photographs of myself, but I love this candid shot of us both with the confetti flying everywhere and the sun on our faces. We both look so happy (and we were – and still are!). It’s actually one of my very favourite wedding pictures from our album and it wasn’t one of the official ones by the photographer (I think was actaully my Mam who took this one). It’s a reminder of just how much fun we had at our wedding.

1. Sushi – ready to roll!
Nori, rice, tuna with a squeeze of lemon and some cracked black pepper, and very finely sliced carrot.

2. Sushi – rolled
My first roll was tighter than the second one and worked out better. Beginner’s luck, perhaps?

3. Sushi – served
With soy sauce, wasabi paste and sushi ginger.

What / who is in this photo?
My first attempt at making sushi from scratch

When / where was this photo taken?
Yesterday (11/11/10) in my kitchen

Why you love this photo.
I’ve only recently begun to enjoy sushi (although I’ll freely admit I avoid the raw fish ones, opting instead for vegetarian or tuna instead) and decided to have a try making it myself.

I got a “sushi for two” kit from a supermarket and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to make sushi at home. I used tuna and carrot in mine and I’m pleased to say it was delicious. Even Xander (my two-year-old son) ate some and declared it yummy. His favourite part was the sushi ginger – he gobbled up a fair bit of that.

The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the wasabi. I finally got up the guts to taste it and won’t be having it again, but everything else was lovely. And yes, I ate it with chopsticks – I always do!

So these photographs will always remind me that things can be a lot simpler than they seem and that I am quite capable of making sushi myself, which is always nice.

What / who is in this photo?
My gorgeous son, Xander wearing his cosy red dressing gown. He likes to pretend to be Po (the red Teletubby) when he’s wearing it and dances around saying “I’m Po!”

When / where was this photo taken?
The morning of 9th October 2010 on the sofa in our livingroom. He suddenly stopped dancing and said “Picture, Mummy!”

Why you love this photo.
Apart from the fact that he actually decided to pose of his own accord, he’s got such a lovely smile in this photo, showing off all his pearly white teeth nicely.

I’ve actually entered this photograph in the Next Baby Competition on Facebook, so I’d love it if you guys would vote for Xander. You can vote for him by clicking HERE.

Thanks in advance!

What / who is in this picture?
This is my son, Xander, who is two years old, playing in Mummy and Daddy’s bed with Boris, his stuffed dog.

When / where was this photo taken?
On the morning of 10th October 2010 in my bedroom.

Why I love this photo:
Like his Mummy, Xander doesn’t usually like having his photo taken, but on this occasion, he actually said, “Mummy, picture!” and posed for me without my asking. He immediately wanted to see the photo (which I’d taken on my mobile phone) and said, “Good one!”

We must have played for more than half an hour, hiding under the covers, playing peek-a-boo and pretending we were camping (with the duvet as our tent) and tickling each other, generally having a great time. It was a lovely morning. 🙂
