Day 6 – Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End) by The Darkness

What would Christmas be without some fun, eh?

In 2003, the wonderfully glam Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bell’s End) by The Darkness entered the race for Christmas #1. According to figures, it was at the top of the sales charts all week, but Saturday sales of Gary Jules’ cover version of Mad World (originally by Tears For Fears) knocked it off for the final count. And so we were subjected to a durge for our Christmas #1.

I prefer to pretend Gary Jules never recorded that monstrosity and that instead, Glam Rock topped the Christmas charts all the way. It’s so jubilant and over-the-top that it couldn’t possibly fail to raise a smile!
