Holding pattern…

I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve not had any time at all for blogging (you’ll notice a complete lack of proper blog posts recently – just a couple of film reviews).

I promise the overdue X-Stitching Christmas post (which should have gone up on Saturday just past) will go up this coming Saturday instead, so if you’re taking part, please do bear with me and check back next week. I promise that next month’s update will be on time!

X-Stitching Xmas 2012 – March Update

Hello, my fellow Xmas X-stitchers,
And welcome to the third monthly update!

And so we march into March! Whereon earth is the time going? I hope you’ve all been busily stitching your Xmas and winter projects, ready to share them all with the rest of us!

I managed to get a little work done on my Winter Quaker Bookmark. Unfortunately, I have now realised the piece of fabric on which I am stitching it is a little too short for the entire design, so I shall have to modify it a little. Still, I’m rather pleased with how it’s coming along. It’s stitched on white 14-count aida in Venus M-018, which is a variegated floss with muted shades of purple – it looks rather wintery and I’m enjoying the effect as I’m stitching it.

I’m still working on a big commission, so I’ve only done a teensy bit of work on this project, but the commission will be finished by the end of March and I will be able to concentrate on my own stitching for a while after that.

X-Stitching Xmas 2012 – February Update

Hello, my fellow Xmas X-stitchers,
And welcome to the second monthly update!

So, we’ve had a month of stitching already (where has the time gone?) and I know some of our avid stitchers had already finished a piece by the first update. Has anyone finished any more for this February update?

I finished the stitching on one of my WIPS – Oh, Christmas Tree! (freebie design at Kincavel Krosses HERE), but have yet to rinse out the water-soluble fabric marker grid, iron it and then “finish” it. I’m not yet sure what finish it will have, but I think I’m edging towards making it a door hanging. I’m afraid the picture isn’t all that clear (damn my sub-standard mobile phone camera!), so you can’t really tell that the red stitching on the tree is actually tiny red seed beads that catch the light very prettily. You’ll just have to take my word for it instead.

I’m concentrating on a commission at the moment, but if I get the chance, I shall be working on another of my X-Stitching Xmas Challenge WIPS a little. Watch this space!

I am absolutely blown away by my final gift. I’ve been hankering after giving hardanger a try for a long time, but have never managed to get up the guts to do it and cut through the fabric (I’m so scared I’ll ruin the whole thing!). This, however, looks to be suitable for even the most terrified of hardanger newbies, and I shall look forward to stitching it.
